This scary moment occured during the USA-New Zealand soccer match on Friday. USWNT’s striker, Alex Morgan, went charging for a ball near the penalty box and struck New Zealand’s goalie, Jenny Bindon, right in the face with her knee.
The knee-blow during the 73rd minute of the match wasn’t severe enough for either to leave the game and a penalty wasn’t called on the play. It’s a lucky thing for both teams that neither Morgan or Bindon was seriously injured on the play. USWNT ended up winning the game, 2-0 and will play Monday’s winner of Britian-Canada in the semifinals.
