I can’t blame him for this epic celebration. How would you feel scoring this amazing goal with 4.7 seconds left to tie the game after having a goal disallowed earlier that would have tied it? Batting the shot out of the air to put it in the net was a display of pure athleticism. It was a huge goal for the rookie, and the Oilers ended up going on to win the game in overtime against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. Nail Yakupov definitely channeled his inner Theo Fleury for this goal, and Oilers fans will be happy that this celebration was done in favor of a goal they scored this time.
Hey everyone thanks 4 remembering me tonight. Great celly by Yak! Just got 150 tweets after the goal. Love the raw emotion of scoring big G

@tsnotoole it was the best 3rd game goal celebration I’ve ever seen. Don’t think the Oilers will have the first pick in the draft this year

A very appropriate response from the legend Theo Fleury, even if it was a bit of a backhanded complement, and he has a great point about the Oilers. This young team is here to stay and is going to make some noise in the NHL this year.
