Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin has had quite an eventful past 24 hours. First he was accused of diving by Ryan Getzlaf, to which Ovechkin had a hysterical response.
Then after slashing the hell out of Kris Letang and caused some serious tempers to flair.
While Ovechkin was on the bench, he actually had a beer tossed on him.
Obviously a fan shouldn’t do this, regardless of what has transpired. At least Capitals head coach Barry Trotz and the Capitals trainer had some funny things to say about it:
“He was probably thirsty anyway,” Trotz told reporters after the game (viaCSNWashington.com). “The fans were into it. I haven’t been over here on this side a whole lot, but they’ve had quite a rivalry over the years and it sounds like the rivalry is coming back.”
