Ronde Barber gets a pick six but how did the ball not touch the ground? (GIF)

I’ve been watching this GIF over and over again, and I still can’t believe that the ball did not hit the ground.  It looks as though it was resting on Chiefs RB/WR Dexter McCluster’s thigh and then moves to his elbow where Ronde Barber just snatches it up.  A savvy play by a true NFL veteran.
