The NFL Playoffs got kicked off this past weekend with three of the four games coming down to the final possession. NBC’s TV rating saw a 9% jump in this year’s games from last year’s Wild Card weekend, so what might the NFL do as a result? Add another team (and game) to the already wild weekend.
Dan Patrick’s Andrew Perloff tweeted about this during Monday’s show:
Dan Patrick says he's been told that the NFL will add a wild card team in both conferences.

CBS’ Jason La Confora added some info to Perloff’s original tweet.
On DP's report that a Wild Card team will be added in each conference, NFL says no decision made. Would have to be voted on by owners…

To this point it hasn't been presented to them. Of course, it could be at May meeting. DP may have inside info that enough votes are there

Of course adding an additional team would make for an odd number of team in the playoffs from each conference (7 teams). The implied result would be that there would only be one team that gets a bye instead of the current two team bye format. More teams in the playoffs the merrier.
