In a promo for the upcoming release of this year’s Madden rankings (Monday July 21st), EA Sports released this hilarious video of NFL Rookies reacting to their Madden 15 ratings. They started off by asking players what they thought they should be rated and then followed it up by showing them their rating.
To give you a ballpark idea of what their ratings are going to be like, Polygon.com breaks down what rookies and second-year players were rated at the last Madden roster update:
In fact, in the latest Madden NFL 25roster — this is the one reflecting players’ ratings at the end of a full season, the highest rated rookies were Sheldon Richardson of the Jets and Star Lotuleilei of the Panthers, at 86. And Richardson was the defensive Rookie of the Year last season. Eddie Lacy of Green Bay, the offensive Rookie of the Year, is an 82.
In fact just eight second-year players are currently rated 90 overall and up, and 13 rookies are rated 80 or better overall.
Safe to say that none of these rookies are going to be higher than an 85.
UPDATE: Here’s the list of the Top 13 rookies and their complete ratings. Jadeveon Clowney’s speed should be a fan favorite.
Johnny Manziel didn’t make the cut, but his rating will be released on August 1st.
