This is really a non-story. If they weren’t talking about Tim Tebow then the media would have no interest in covering it and it wouldn’t be a big story. Quite honestly, the Jets are crumbling and have been ever since Tebow was added to the roster.
Players don’t want to play for Rex Ryan anymore, and I’d be willing to bet that he is on his last legs there in New York. You can only underachieve, while predicting Super Bowl victories, for so long before you get fired.
To make matters worse, now you have players bashing a backup quarterback who has literally done nothing except do everything that has been asked of him this year. I am by no means a Tebow fan, but you have to give him credit, I don’t know a single backup quarterback in the NFL other than him that would be willing to block on punts.
Tomlinson has a theory on who the guys talking about Tebow in the locker room were and he thinks that it was Antonio Cromartie and Bart Scott, both are known for running their mouths. That being said, Tomlinson doesn’t disagree with them. He wondered aloud why the Jets went and got Tim Tebow this offseason. They knew he’s not a great quarterback and that his popularity would cause instant problems the second Mark Sanchez started to struggle.
The Jets have quite a situation on their hands and I think it’s time to clean house. I don’t think Sanchez is the man for the job, but I think the biggest issue is that they need a new coach and they need to revamp their entire offense. Tony Sparano was brought in to do just that, but their offense hasn’t been any more effective than it was before he got there. It’s time for a change.
Update: To answer what Tomlinson said, Cromartie had this to say.
Antonio Cromartie denies he anonymously ripped Tim Tebow: "I put my name on everything I say."
