Jets Owner Woody Johnson tries to play it off when he is asked the question, and I agree with him, I don’t think it’s really that important. Sure, it is a part of the whole Tebow persona and if he wasn’t a virgin, it would undermine is loyalty to his religion, and then it would bring into question his character for blatantly lying to the public.
The most concerning part of this interview for me is the fact that Johnson says that Tebow will be with them for the next three years, and he thinks that he will be a real asset to the teams winning.
Ever since the Jet’s made this move, I’ve always thought that it was a publicity stunt, and that they are doing it for the attention and the popularity that Tebow brings with him. It increases the sales in merchandise, and keeps the New York Jets in the news, particularly on Sportscenter, every single day of the year.
I know that Mark Sanchez can’t possibly be happy to hear that Tebow will be with them for another three years. I don’t think either one is a very good quarterback, but it seems a little early for the Jets to be giving up on their first round pick from 2009.
