As broken by Greg Anthony first on NBATV from “an extremely reliable source,” Phil Jackson is indeed going to become the Knicks new ‘Director of Basketball Operations’. It’s unclear exactly how much power he’ll have, but as Frank Isola noted earlier today:
Heard from a source that if Phil takes the Knicks job “he’ll live in New York 35 percent of the time and make it look like 50 percent.”

Regardless, this is a great move for an organization that’s been on the decline lately. Hopefully Owner James Dolan gives the Zen Master full control.
Here’s Anthony’s original tweet breaking the news on Jackson-to-the-Knicks:
.@nyknicks it’s official @PhilJackson11 will be joining the Knicks! This move will go a long way in revamping the culture of this franchise!
