Seattle’s, Felix Hernandez, drilled Yankees 3rd baseman, Alex Rodriguez, with a pitch during the 8th inning of Tuesday night’s game in Seattle.
X-Rays revealed that the 88 mph changeup fractured A-Rod’s hand, an injury that could sideline the All-Star anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
“You hate to see a guy go down on something freak like that,” Yankees’ first baseman Mark Teixeira said. “I had a weird feeling it wasn’t good.”
Not only did Hernandez hit Rodriguez with a pitch, he also drilled Derek Jeter and newly acquired Ichiro.
To make things worse, New York lost to Seattle 4-2. However, the Yankees do have a 7 game cushion in the AL East, but it’s obviously a tough blow losing the team,s 3rd baseman and replacing him with Eric Chavez.
