The MLB’s Opening Day was on Monday and the much anticipated arrival of the expansion of instant replay was a success. The first official upheld call occurred in the 5th inning of the Pirates vs. Cubs game when Jeff Samardzija was called out at first place on a double play. New Cubs Manager Rick Renteria challenged the call, and Samardzija was confirmed out in about a minute and 45 seconds.
This is great for baseball, especially if it can be utilized in a timely manner.
