According to the Horns247 site, the University of Texas has hired Louisville’s Charlie Strong to be its next coach. Strong will get $5 million a season for 5-years according to Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel.

Strong is taking over for Mack Brown, who led Texas the last 16 seasons. He coached Louisville to a 37-15 record over four season, including an 11-2 campaign in 2012. Strong signed an 8-year extension with Louisville last year in January with a $5 million dollar buyout. Texas also appeared interested in Baylor’s Art Briles, Vanderbilt’s James Franklin and UCLA’s Jim Mora before settling on Strong.
