Khalid Kareem surprised a lot of recruiting experts when he announced his pledge for Alabama over the reported favorite Michigan on Wednesday. While it sounds like it was a back-and-forth decision for Kareem, who apparently made a last minute decision for the Crimson Tide, could a former Detroit Lions player have hurt Michigan’s chances?
Take a look at this quote from a former Lions WR via ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren:
Former Lions player Mel Farr told Khalid Kareem's dad great players go to great schools so if Khalid can play at Alabama why not go there.

Farr, who played college ball at UCLA, was the No. 7 pick in the 1967 draft by the Detroit.
