It was announced Wednesday that Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin is set to take the head coaching position at Maryland. While many figured Durkin would be at Michigan more than one season, the Wolverines have several very capable replacements. We take a look at eight possible candidates below.
Greg Jackson
Jackson, 49, is the current defensive backs coach for Michigan. A former 12-year NFL vet, Jackson was brought to Ann Arbor from the 49ers by Harbaugh and has proved his worth. With two First-Team All Big-Ten members (Jourdan Lewis and Jabrill Peppers), the secondary proved to be an obvious strength for the Wolverines defense this year under Jackson and Mike Zordich. As Webb notes ($), the issue with not potentially giving Jackson the DC position is that he may accept the same job at another school, if offered.
