In one of the least surprising Heisman Ceremonies ever, Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota was awarded the 2014 Heisman Trophy. Amari Cooper and Melvin Gordon had outstanding seasons, but they just couldn’t compete with Mariota’s. Mariota was responsible for 53 total touchdowns and only threw two interceptions, led the nation in passing efficiency at 186.3, and has already taken home the Davey O’Brien and Walter Camp awards. Adding a Heisman Trophy and then going to the first ever college playoffs makes for a pretty good year, I’d say.

Actually, if you don’t vacate Reggie Bush’s win, Mariota would be 3rd for highest possible points received.
