Only a few days away from the greatest day, selection Sunday, the hype is near. March Madness is my favorite time of the year. I am a big college bball fan. But before you fill out your bracket, consider that several of the top teams may not be as good as everyone predicts or their seed portays. Here’s a list of potential teams.
1)North Carolina– Beat Duke in Chapel Hill to wrap up a surprising ACC regular season championship. Although UNC is very young, starting two freshman, Barnes and Marshall, they really lack depth at the forward position behind Henson and Zeller . Be careful with this UNC team because depending on their draw, they could either lose in the 1st round or make it all the way to the Final Four.
2)Notre Dame– Hansbrough this, Hansbrough that. Just like Tyler, Ben Hansbrough is everyone’s darling and most talked about player. However, the regular season Big East champs and likely #1 seed has issues. They rely heavily on really 6 guys and don’t have a long bench. This can be detriment playing against a fast paced, pressing and hard nosed defensive team. Similarly, they are a shooting team and must make their shot to advance. I wouldn’t be shocked with a sweet 16 exit for the Irish.
3)BYU– This team seems like a pretty obvious choice for a team that could lose early on. Every knows that BYU goes with Jimmer Fredette. I’m certainly not denying this Mormons talent, but outside of him I wouldn’t know what to expect . The departure of Davies for school violations, really hurts as he was really the only down low force. Fredette could easily lead this team to the final four, but at the same time, an off night for Fredette could be the end of the Mountain West champs.
