Michigan basketball’s team motto this season has been “WE ON.” The motto is featured on their shirts for warm ups and it stands for “When Everyone Operates N’sync.”
According to Big Ten Network, there is also a secondary meaning to the motto:
The “WE” is an acronym for “Wolverine Excellence,” which the program strives for, and the “ON” originates from a routine, started this season, in which every player flips on the switch of a fuse box in the locker room – a process that represents the players’ commitment to improve every day.
In an effort to troll Michigan in this in-state rivalry, Michigan State students have been sporting “YOU OFF” shirts in the Izzone on Tuesday night for the first matchup ever between Michigan and Michigan State as Top Ten teams. Not the most creative idea, but you get the point.
Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Jerel Worthy, who used to play for Michigan State, also posted the image below to his Twitter page.
I’m sure Michigan fans will be happy to point out the poor use of grammar with this slogan, but just like the “YOU OFF” shirts, you get the point. Nothing like a good old fashioned rivalry game.
