There were a lot of unhappy Michigan basketball fans following Tuesday’s double OT loss to Northwestern, and rightfully so. As costly as the missed free-throws by Zak Irvin and Spike Albrecht were, it will be the decision not to foul up three by Michigan and the ensuing two three-point prayers Northwestern’s Tre Demps hit to send the game to OT and then to double OT.
According to the Detroit Free Press’ Mark Snyder, following the game Beilein said he let his players decide on whether or not to foul up three-points in the second OT:
Beilein gave players a vote whether to foul before last demps 3. All voted to play it out.

I’m sure Beilein will re-consider his non-foul approach after the 82-78 loss on Tuesday. Michigan next plays Rutgers Saturday.
