Jalen Rose and the four other members of the Fab Five (Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson) were all in their second year of play at Michigan the last time UM was No.1.
Now that Michigan is No.1 again for the first time since December 6th, 1992, Rose thinks it’s time for Michigan to incorporate the Fab Five back in the mix.
In an interview with ESPN, Rose was quoted as saying, “Now, I just hope to have the good problem and the good fortunes of figuring out a way to get the other four members of the Fab Five to actually sit courtside and watch our Wolverines win the championship this year.”
The NCAA hit Michigan with a ban after it was learned that Chris Webber took hundreds of thousands of dollars from booster Ed Martin and then lied to federal investigators. Not only was Michigan forced to remove the Fab Five’s 1992 and 1993 records, including two Final Four appearances, Michigan was also to have no contact with Webber for 10 years.
The disassociation period between Michigan and Chris Webber ends this season, and it remains to be seen if the two parties will work something out.
