Five-star center Caleb Swanigan, the No. 11 player in the country to Scout.com, announced on Friday he plans on attending Michigan State next season. The Fort-Wayne, Indiana native picked the Spartans over Cal, Kentucky and Duke.
Most experts expected Swanigan to pick Cal:
The Michigan State staff was as surprised as anyone that Caleb Swanigan chose the Spartans. Everyone pegged him as Cal-bound today.

Michigan State will now return Denzel Valentine, add transfer Eron Harris — and also two Top 25 recruits in Deyonta Davis and Swanigan.
