Dougie McBuckets is at it again. One of the nation’s best players and the current frontrunner to win the Wooden Award as Division I’s MVP of the year, McDermott has been lighting it up for Creighton all year. Playing for his father, Greg, Doug is averaging the second most PPG in the country (24.3) and is having an electrifying season, propelling the Blue Jays back into the AP Top 25 rankings last week.
If there’s one thing that hasn’t been criticized about McDermott’s game yet, it’s his clutch gene and late game ability. There’s a place in the NBA for players like him, tweener or not. McDermott finished with 39 points Tuesday night against St. John’s in Creighton’s 63-60 Big East win.
