You can chalk this up as one of the things I never thought I would see. I thought it was possible that Manny Pacquiao could lose, because his last fight with Juan Manuel Marquez was close, but I never thought he would be knocked out cold.
This was literally one of the most perfectly timed punches, and he hit Pacquiao in an utterly perfect spot. It was like Marquez hit the off-button for Pacquiao, and then his whole body went limp.
When Pacquiao woke up, he had no idea where he was, a sure sign of a concussion. The bout certainly did not go the way that Pacquiao had planned, and he had lost 3 of the first 5 rounds according to the fight card that ESPN was showing. Perhaps now we will never get to see Pacquiao fight Floyd Mayweather. Losing his last two bouts hurts Pacquiao’s reputation, even if the first one he lost was a sham.
Perhaps Mitt Romney being in the locker room with Pacquiao prior to the fight and sitting ring side with Ann Romney jinxed Manny.
