On Monday night in Cuba, there was a baseball game between Matanzas and Villa Clar. Matanzas took a 3-0 lead following a solo home run in the 7th inning and then all hell broke loose. Villa Clara pitcher Freddy Alvarez hit one batter in the head with a fastball, and then aimed for a second batter’s head.
The second player that had the ball thrown at his head wanted no part of the trouble and bench player Demis Valdes charged Alvarez where they threw their gloves at each other. Valdes then took it to the next level when he picked up a bat and swung it at Alvarez’s head, coming inches from hitting his head. Had he connected, Alvarez would have been in serious trouble. Order was eventually restored and Matanzas held on to win.
