Tigers skipper, Jim Leyland, is known for his short fuse and temper, and that was apparent following Monday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
Leyland was upset on a call during the second inning that allowed Mike Aviles to continue his at bat. The umpires ruled that Tigers catcher, Gerald Laird, didn’t catch the foul tip before it hit the ground. However, watching the replay you can see why Leyland lost it, because in fact, Laird did catch the tip.
The call, that should have ended the second inning, ended up costing the Tigers three runs, the same margin of defeat for the Tigers.
