Jennifer Coney, the mother of No. 1 2016 recruit Rashan Gary, was not happy that former Auburn DC Will Muschamp accepted the South Carolina job just before telling her son that he would stay with the Tigers.
Keith Niebuhr of 247sports interviewed Coney about a recent in-home visit from Auburn recruiters Muschamp and linebackers coach Lance Thompson.
“If you get a head coaching position, of course you might leave,” Coney said to 247 Sports. “But he should have been honest. He should have said, ‘Well, if I get the opportunity.’ I would respect that. I would have understood. It’s a job for them. But he didn’t. Muschamp is a liar. A pure liar.”
Coney told Niebuhr that she still can see her son at Auburn despite Muschamp lying, and that she received a phone call from Jim Harbaugh regarding D.J. Durkin’s departure to Maryland.
