Joakim Noah took a pretty big step back last season in terms of production. While the 30-year-old forward is still one of the best defensive players in the league, his lack of offensive abilities showed mightily during the NBA playoffs. Has has the former Defensive Player of the Year become expendable? According to Joe Cowley, there’s a chance the Bulls’ front-office will look to trade Noah this offseason.
Noah will be entering the final year of his contract, and will do so with a $13.4 million price tag and a surgically-repaired left knee that did him very little favors. With Gasol and the return of Derrick Rose to the mix, Noah’s numbers dropped drastically from last season, and that’s why the Bulls are expected to at least test the trade market with him.
Cowley also notes that the Bulls could deal Taj Gibson if a deal for Noah doesn’t work out. Gibson has two-years left on his 5-year, $38 million dollar contract.
