Notre Dame had closed the gap against Arizona State, but their mistakes ended up being too much to overcome. Notre Dame WR Corey Robinson dropped/bobbled the pass and it bounced right into Lloyd Carrington’s hands who took it to the house for the second Sun Devil pick six of the game. The score was the nail in the coffin for the Fighting Irish who had too steep of a hill to climb in the second half. Arizona State scored 28 points off 5 Notre Dame turnovers.
