During Game 3 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals, Montreal winger Brandon Prust caught ex-teammate and New York Ranger Derek Stepan skating through the middle of the ice, clipping Stepan’s jaw with his shoulder. The dirty hit resulted in a broken jaw for Stepan and a two-game suspension for Prust, both of which each player was able to return from.
After the Canadiens’ Game 6 loss, which ended the series and sent the Blueshirts to the Stanley Cup Finals, the two met in the handshake line. They hugged it out and Prust most likely apologized. Here’s the hit from Game 3, if you missed it:
