It has been rumored for quite some time now that Real Madrid and Manchester United would play at the Big House this fall, but it appears that it is going to be officially announced on Friday.
From the Michigan Daily:
Wednesday afternoon, an Athletic Department e-mail invited media members to a “special event announcement,” to be held Friday. The e-mail stated that Athletic Director Dave Brandon and members from the organizing committee will be present to discuss the “historic event to be held at Michigan Stadium.”
The game will be played August 2nd, 2014 and should make for quite a spectacle, especially after the success of the Winter Classic. My only question, how are they going to make the field regulation size for soccer?
Looks like Real Madrid vs. Man U is happening in Ann Arbor (presumably Michigan Stadium) on Aug. 2, per report http://t.co/4F2Dg5YIWX

So … What is the largest soccer crowd for a game on US soil? And would Real Madrid-Man U at Michigan Stadium break it? Great discussion.
