Canada defeated the United States in Women’s Hockey in a preliminary round Wednesday morning after a controversial third-period goal.
The refs appeared to have blown the whistle before Canada’s second goal went in the back of the net, as SportsGrid shows in the video below:
The refs upheld the goal after looking at it for a moment. Canada would net another goal later in the period, before the United State’s tightened things up in the final minute. The two teams will most likely face off again later on in the tournament.
