It wouldn’t be rivalry week without a mascot head getting stolen. On Wednesday, the head of the Duke Blue Devils mascot was stolen and put up on a stake on top of a student store in Chapel Hill.
A photo showed up on Instagram of people wearing the mascot head before it was placed on the stake and had this caption:
“Shout out to my brother and his friends for stealing the Duke mascot head and mounting it on a stake.”
According to myfox8.com:
Derek Rowles, an executive producer for ABC 11 in Raleigh, said Chapel Hill Police have taken possession of the Duke mascot head. It was removed from the bookstore around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
This incident should up the ante for the game on Wednesday night. UNC is having a down year, but in a rivalry game, anything can happen.
