John Calipari gave one of the best answers when asked by Andy Katz in a halftime interview how his team would tighten up on defense and stop Duke’s interior penetration.
Calipari responded: “The post defense and some threes. But for us to be in this situation, I’m going to be honest, I’m happy. We got into a little foul trouble but not much. They’re flopping all over the place. In the NBA, they’d all be suspended.”
Under Mike Krzyzewski, Duke is notoriously known to take a few charges, flop or not, during each game. It’s surprising, however, Calipari would say something like this on national TV. Calipari does know that an NBAer can only be suspended according to the anti-flopping policy after six or more flops, right? Don’t know if Duke has flopped that much during the first half.
Duke beat Kentucky, 75-68.
