John U. Bacon, who shared recently that Jim Stapleton, a Michigan grad and part-owner of the Vikings, has a strong dislike for Jim Harbaugh. At the same time, Bacon insinuated that Stapleton could be leaking the information about Michigan’s sign-stealing investigation to the NCAA. The writer, who has published several novels about Michigan football and was the one to break the ‘Harbaugh – to – Michigan news 8 years ago’, posted the following response after Stapleton issued a statement saying that he was sending his lawyers at Bacon (while also not denying any of his claims).
Some things speak for themselves, and the statement below strikes me as one of them.
Thanks for the many offers of help I've received, but I'm fine, and sleeping very well. Onward. https://t.co/5P8ixeXdCu— John U. Bacon (@Johnubacon) October 28, 2023
Also this from Bacon:
Re: Michigan's NCAA case: Ultimately it's irrelevant who first reported UM to the NCAA, or who’s leaking now. The messenger doesn't matter much. If Michigan broke rule 11.6.1, they will pay the consequences. That part’s simple. (1/2)

What’s not is predicting what the NCAA will do w/a rule with no sentencing guidelines, that's only been tested once, in 2016. Anyone who says they know how the NCAA will rule, how UM will respond, or what Harbaugh will do next is lying.
