Michigan QB Shea Patterson was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 39th round of last night’s MLB Draft. According to Brandon Justice of the Wolverine Lounge, Patterson, while Patterson is set to play at Michigan next year, he still could sign a contract and potentially free up a scholarship next year
Source: #Michigan QB Shea Patterson’s future is playing football for U-M, but don’t be surprised if he signs a contract with #Rangers after being taken in the #MLBDraft.
He can sign with TEX and still play football at U-M. That would cover his tuition, freeing one up for U-M.

Again, signing the contract doesn’t mean he’s playing baseball. He’s not leaving football in any capacity. The vision is a Russell Wilson-type situation. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is with them for a week of practice next year during the offseason. Sort of like Wilson during ST.
