The Athletic’s Brendan Quinn shot down the report that Izzo is stepping down:
There are "reports" popping up on these interwebs, I believe from fake or spoof accounts, that Izzo is planning on announcing his own retirement in the coming days. A source close to Izzo says this is "nonsense."

Mark Hollis, Michigan State’s AD, ‘retired’ from his position this morning but had gotten wind that the Paula Lavinge’s Outside the Lines story – regarding Larry Nassar’s connection to the University and the program-wide cover-up of sexual assault from the Spartans Athletic Department – was coming out.
OTL reports that at least 16 Michigan State football players have been named in accusations of rape or violence against women since Mark Dantonio became the head coach in 2007. Despite that, Dantonio claimed back in June that allegations of that nature against his players were “new ground for us” after he decided to kick several players off the team who had been charged with sexual assault.
ESPN also highlighted stories of former Spartan basketball players, Keith Appling and Adreian Payne, who were accused of crimes that included a rape allegation when they were recruits in 2010. Neither was disciplined nor were charges filed.
Izzo received heat during the Larry Nassar trial for issuing his support for former MSU President Lou Anna Simon, who stepped down earlier this week but will receive her salary for two years and a lifetime of perks:

The reply from the mother of former USA Gymnast Lynn Raisman to Izzo:
Dear Tom Izzo,
I'm sorry it's been a difficult week for you. Did you hear, Larry Nassar also said it was difficult. Since you "hope the right person was convicted" I wonder if you are a complete and total MORON or just a LIAR when you claim you listened to the impact statements. https://t.co/CIdiTPtXa1— Lynn Raisman (@LynnRaisman) January 20, 2018
