LSU dismissed junior starting cornerback and Heisman Trophy Finalist, Tyrann Mathieu, from the team on Friday for violating school and team rules.
Nicknamed the Honey Badger, Mathieu finished fifth for the Heisman Trophy in 2011. He excelled on special teams, returning multiple punt returns for touchdowns during the Tigers National Title season run. He was expected to be in the race for the Heisman in 2012.
LSU’s head coach, Les Miles, would not specify why Mathieu was kicked off the team, but rumor is that he failed a drug test.
Huge blow for LSU, the preseason No.1 team in the nation.
