Michigan signed 16 prospects during the early signing period (see the early enrollees here). With a few open spots left in the class, the two likely top targets for the Wolverines -five-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere and DT Tyler Friday – were both predicted to become #BlueBloods18 members by Rivals’ Brandon Brown.
Michigan desperately needs offensive lineman in 2018 class with only Jaylen Mayfield signed. Petit-Frere, who will see plenty of the Wolverines during Outback Bowl practice (the team is practicing at his high school in Tampa), is ranked as the No. 1 OT and No. 5 player in 2018 according to 247sports.
Likewise, with Rick Sandidge dropping the Wolverines in his final three, Friday becomes even more important to Michigan’s class. The four-star DT out of New Jersey is also high on Ohio State and Alabama, but the Wolverines have likely positioned themselves as the front-runner for the No. 3 DT.
Keeping LB Otis Reese away from Georgia, signing Petit-Frere, Tyler Friday and possibly four-star OT Jarrett Patterson, would be a great finish for Michigan’s class.
