Taylor Currie, a four-star forward/center out of Clarkston, Michigan, was expected to start his career as a Wolverine in 2019. However, the 6-foot-9, 200-pounder shared that he will be reclassifying to play in 2018:
“I just looked at everything and we considered all options,” Currie told MLive.com. “I believe it’s the best fit for me. I’m obviously excited that I have the chance to go to Michgian. … Looking at the class (Beilein) has coming in, it’s a great opportunity to come in and play with those guys a year ahead of time.”
Currie reclassifying to 2018 likely could be due to Moe Wagner’s likely departure from Michigan to the NBA a year early.
The Wolverines now have three members to their 2018 class with Currie, David DeJulius and Brandon Johns. Two or three more members will likely be added out of a group that includes SG Noah Locke, G/F Hunter Tyson, F Jerome Hunter and F Ignas Brazdeikis
