Philadelphia Phillies closer, Jonathan Papelbon, was the unsung hero in Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. During the seventh inning, a fan rushed on the field and was attempting to climb the Phillies bullpen.
Papelbon got up from his chair, pinned the guy against the fence and was then helped by outfielder Shane Victorina and security officials.
The man, dressed in a yellow shirt, entered the field from the right field fence, and for whatever reason, tried to leap into the Phillies bullpen.
Fans running on the field are nothing new to Citizen Bank Park. Back in 2010, a teen was tasered after eluding security.
If a video surfaces, we’ll be sure to post it.
