Ryan Callahan scores sick shorthanded goal against Winnipeg Jets
Published
The New York Rangers were in the process of killing a 5 on 3 Winnipeg Jets powerplay when the puck was cleared out to center ice. As Rangers captain Ryan Callahan picked up the puck in the neutral zone, Mats Zuccarello jumped out of the penalty box and they had a shorthanded 2 on 1. Rather than utilize his teammate, Callahan decided to empty out his bag of tricks and pulled off some filthy moves.
He toe-dragged right around a diving Tobias Enstrom, then toe-dragged around Ondrej Pavelec and then pulled the puck to his backhand where he buried the puck. This was an absolutely superb individual effort and by far the most impressive play from the NHL on Monday night. The Rangers went on to beat the Jets 4-2.
