According to TSN employee and former Red Wing Aaron Ward, the Detroit Red Wings are now out on Shane Doan. He says that the asking price was too high and the Wings have backed out.

This just adds to a laundry list of failures for Ken Holland and the Wings this off-season. First, Parise and Suter signed with the Minnesota Wild. Then, Rick Nash was traded to New York and Shea Weber resigned with Nashville. And today, Alex Semin signed with the Carolina Hurricanes and Shane Doan asked for too much money. This summer has raised far more questions about the Wings future than in previous years. Where do the Wings go from here? And how much longer until Ken Holland is officially on the hot seat?
