Panthers replace pane of glass with random piece of wood

Ok so it wasn’t really a random piece of wood, but when a pane of glass broke during the Florida Panthers-Detroit Red Wings game, they replaced it with a piece of glass that still had the cover on it.  Why they didn’t remove the cover is beyond me, and if I was a fan sitting behind there I would have been utterly furious.  Nothing says bush league quite like an NHL team doing something like this.
