Had this play worked this would have been one of the most talked about goals in hockey history. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski decided to pull out all the stops during game five of their series with the Boston Bruins. The Maple Leafs were down 3-1 in the series and were in desperation mode the entire game. Grabovski was given plenty of space behind the net and decided to flip the puck over the back of the net and then try to bat it in the net himself. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask was up to the task though and made a fantastic save on Grabovski. If Grabovski wants to try this again, he better make sure he keeps his stick lower, because that would have also been high sticking on the play. He should also probably make sure his coach Randy Carlyle is okay with him doing it next time too.
Carlyle says Grabovski probably shouldn't have tried that trick play last night but notes it shows Mikhail is playing w confidence
