Michael Del Zotto’s baseball-esque shorthanded goal
Published
This goal looked like something straight out of batting practice. After a bizarre series of events where New Jersey Devils goalie Johan Hedberg misplayed the puck and then stole it back from New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan and then lost it again, things got even more ridiculous. Stepan went to pass the puck to Del Zotto out front of the Devils net, but the puck was deflected by Ilya Kovalchuk. The pass went straight int he air and Del Zotto channeled his inner Miguel Cabrera and batted this puck straight into the net past Hedberg. It was almost high-sticking, but Del Zotto used his excellent athleticism and hand-eye coordination to score this highlight reel goal.
