Is there a hockey fan in the world who doesn’t root for Martin St. Louis? Earlier this month, the 38-year-old’s mother passed away just before Mother’s Day. Instead of leaving New York and missing a couple of games to mourn, Marty stayed with the Rangers and helped his team eliminate the Penguins. Tonight, he sniped Dustin Tokarski in overtime to give the Blueshirts a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals of the NHL Playoffs.
When Alexei Emelin got sucked into the play and left St. Louis wide open in the Canadiens’ offensive zone, Carl Hagelin picked up the puck and found him. Marty took a couple of strides towards the net and then let it rip, beating Tokarski short-side, top-shelf beautifully.
