Boston Bruins forward Gregory Campbell showed serious grit during the Bruins double overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. On the penalty kill in the second period, Campbell went down to block Evgeni Malkin’s shot and he took it right on the knee cap. Rather than lay on the ice, Campbell did his best to stay in the play and stayed on the ice for the rest of the penalty kill. Campbell would eventually get off the ice, but did not return to the game.
This isn’t the only time we’ve seen a player play through an injury during a shift, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson stayed on the ice after he blocked a shot and was injured during Game 3 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Hockey players are clearly a different breed. Finishing a shift with a broken leg had to be incredibly painful.
