Chicago Blackhawks forward Jamal Mayers was trying to get under the Detroit Red Wings skin before game five, and he decided to shoot some pucks into the Red Wings zone on goalie Jimmy Howard. Mayers was caught doing it on camera, and has been fined for it. Unfortunately, TSN won’t let you embed videos, so you can watch the incident here.
Chicago's Jamal Mayers has been fined a half days pay (CBA) for his puck-shooting, pregame antics. Fine works out to roughly $1600.

Mayers fired 4 or 5 pucks through Red Wings players and into their net during warmup prior to game 5. Hence, the fine…for those asking.

Chicago Tribune’s Chris Kuc spoke with Mayers and here is what he had to say:
“I was trying to get under their skin, I’m not going to hide behind it or lie to you,” Mayers said following the Hawks’ morning skate prior to Game 6 on Monday at Joe Louis Arena. “The league fined me and took the appropriate action and I’ll play the piper.
“All of us in there will do anything to win,” Mayers added. “I don’t want the focus to be me. I was just trying to get under their skin. The guys are playing unbelievable and playing really well. We’ve got a huge task in front of us.”
This is Mayers second season with the Blackhawks and he has yet to play a playoff game this season.
