Hall of Fame Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders defeated Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in the Madden 25 cover vote Wednesday night. Over 700,000 people voted in the final round and Sanders took 58% of the vote. Adrian Peterson was a very gracious loser:
Congrats to my guy Barry Sanders for winning the 2013 Madden Cover! Any other guy to take me down… it would've been a problem! Salute

And Barry Sanders took to Twitter to say a few words:
I would like to thank all the fans that voted in the EA Madden

Not just for me, but for all the players involved.

I am shocked, excited, humbled, elated. I am also proud to be the Madden 25 Cover athlete.

And special thanks to @sandysandovalEA for giving me the chance and putting me in the running. EA has been a great partner.

The voter turn out in this program has been remarkable. And the fact that I won is pretty sweet, but very surprising and amazing. #Madden25

EA Sports also unveiled their first teaser video of the new Madden 25 game and based on the video, someone at EA Sports must not like the Green Bay Packers.
This is the first time in Madden history that a team has had back-to-back covers, so at least the Detroit Lions can win at something.
The state of Michigan meanwhile has a monopoly on EA Sports games this year, with former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson gracing the cover of NCAA Football 14.
