On Saturday afternoon, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb was hit in the head by a line drive from Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer. The ball appeared to hit Cobb on the right side of the head above the ear, and did so with some serious force. The ball was traveling off the bat at 102.4 MPH and then bounced back to home plate after hitting Cobb.
Cobb was moving his legs after he was hit and doctors and trainers were immediately called for. Cobb would then be stretchered off and taken to the hospital. He has a mild concussion and fortunately never lost consciousness, definitely a scary moment nonetheless.
