Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole, the #1 overall pick from the 2011 draft, made his MLB debut on Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants. He stepped up for his first career at bat with the bases loaded and managed to knock in two runs off a single. After reaching base, he threw up a Zoltan as his family went nuts. Cole would go on to get the win with 6 1/3 innings pitched, 7 hits, 2 runs, and 2 strikeouts; he also went 1 for 3 at the plate. Overall, a very successful debut.
